Yesterday was Cow Appreciation Day, AKA “Dress Like A Cow To Get Free Food At Chick-Fil-A Day!”It happens once a year in the beginning of July. We’ve celebrated the beauty of cows for the past six years, ever since I was pregnant with Mr. R, and we don’t plan to stop anytime soon!
Do you want a simple, easy to make costume that doesn’t fall apart, yet gets the job done and gets you free food on this glorious day? We’ve got you covered.
All you need is:
- Black or white shirt and pants/shorts that fit your subject*
- Old black or white shirt to cut up spots from
- Fabric glue, such as Fabri-Tac
* If you don’t have a shirt and/or pants that fit, you can use clothing that does fit as a pattern to create your own from a larger spare shirt. I had to do this with Mr. R’s white pants. Follow through here for a tutorial on how to make this.
All you need to do is cut out lots of spots out of your scrap fabric, and glue them onto the shirt and shorts using your fabric glue. I used Fabri-Tac and absolutely love it! It glues pretty quickly, isn’t too messy, and the best part is that it’s washable and stays on your clothes! I’ve had so many of our costumes fall apart as we were waiting in line, and this is the first year I got smart and glued them on using Fabri-tac and had absolutely no wardrobe malfunctions at all.
Now, if you happen to be like me and don’t have white shorts for your son but refuse to put him in any other non-matching colored shorts, you can make your own as long as you have some extra white knit fabric/shirts laying around. I took a pair of basketball shorts and made a pattern out of them.
Hope you like your new washable spotted cow costumes! Quick and easy for free chicken dinner.
